Florentino Perez Mocked Real Madrid Players: Journalist Demanded 10 Million Euros to Delete Recording

Journalist Jose Antonio Abellan attempted to extract 10 million euros from Real Madrid in exchange for deleting audio recordings in which club president Florentino Perez mocks the team's players, according to Ondacero.

According to the report, Abellan met with Real Madrid's then-vice president Eduardo Fernández de Blas at a restaurant in Madrid and sought the sum to annihilate the audio recordings. He was denied this demand and has since tried unsuccessfully for years to sell the recordings to Spanish media.

On Tuesday, El Confidencial released an audio recording in which Perez criticizes former players Iker Casillas and Raul from the Madrid club and the Spanish national team. The following Wednesday, another compromising audio recording emerged, in which he speaks harshly about former player Cristiano Ronaldo and the club's former coach Jose Mourinho.

It was revealed the day before that Florentino Perez had handed over documents to his lawyers to file a lawsuit against Abellan and El Confidencial.
