Weightlifter Arthur Petrosyan Becomes European Silver Medalist
During the European Championships for youth and athletes under 15 years old, weightlifter Arthur Petrosyan secured a silver medal in the 60 kg category, lifting a total of 241 kg.
The championship is taking place in the capital of Kosovo, Pristina. Competing in the youth 60 kg weight class, Arthur Petrosyan successfully completed all three of his lifts, lifting 102 kg, 105 kg, and 108 kg above his head. He placed second in the snatch discipline.
In the clean and jerk event, Petrosyan lifted 127 kg in his first attempt and 133 kg in his second. However, his third attempt at 137 kg was unsuccessful, meaning he also secured a small silver in the clean and jerk.
On the same competition day, another Armenian weightlifter, Varazdat Harutyunyan, was also in action in the 60 kg category. He completed two successful lifts in the snatch, holding 100 kg and 103 kg above his head, but was unable to lift 106 kg.
In the clean and jerk, he successfully lifted 121 kg and 125 kg. His third attempt, which was aimed at 132 kg, was unsuccessful. With a total lift of 228 kg, Harutyunyan finished in fourth place.
