Almost 30 Years Older than Rome: A Remarkable Reflection by Romanians on Yerevan Before the Decisive Match

As the Europa League playoff match against "Ararat-Armenia" approaches, Romanian club "Universitatea Craiova" has published a detailed reflection on Yerevan and the upcoming confrontation on their official social media pages, as reported by armsport.am. The club's press service has specifically highlighted the rich history of the Armenian capital.

"One of the oldest cities in the world will welcome us on Thursday evening. Founded in 782 BC under the name of Erebuni, Yerevan is almost three decades older than Rome," the publication states.

The Romanian club described Yerevan as the "Pink City," thanks to its buildings made of volcanic tuff, and advised its traveling fans to explore Republic Square, Vernissage, and the Cascade complex.

Furthermore, special attention was given to the history of the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium (opened in 1935 as "Dynamo," with a capacity of over 14,000 spectators), and it was also mentioned that temperatures during the match are expected to be around 24-25°C.

"After a 1-1 scoreline, everything will be decided in Yerevan. Together, for qualification," concluded the press service of Craiova.

It is worth mentioning that in the first match held in Romania, "Ararat-Armenia" opened the scoring with a goal from Alexandru Malisha, but the home team equalized through Nikushor Banku (1-1).

The fate of the Europa League playoff spot will be determined on August 27 at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium. The match will kick off at 20:00.
