Ratcliffe Secretly Arrives in Moscow: Important Request Conveyed to Ukraine Amid Visit

The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, John Ratcliffe, has arrived in Moscow, according to journalists citing anonymous sources. Jennifer Jacobs, a reporter for an American television network, reported that Ratcliffe is expected to hold meetings with officials in Moscow.

Journalist Barak Ravid reported that U.S. authorities have requested Ukraine to halt strikes on Russian territory during Ratcliffe's visit. A Ukrainian media outlet, referring to anonymous sources, presented similar information.

One American publication noted several possible reasons for Ratcliffe's visit, including a potential mobilization, the strengthening of Ukraine's attacks on Russian territory, war with Iran, or possible provocations by Moscow against member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance.

U.S. and Russian authorities have not yet commented on reports of Ratcliffe's arrival in Moscow. Alexander Yunashov, a member of the Kremlin's press pool, also reported on Ratcliffe's visit to Moscow, stating that the schedule of Russian President Vladimir Putin had been altered due to this meeting.

Reports of the visit emerged after a U.S. Air Force transport aircraft and a diplomatic motorcade were spotted at one of Moscow's airports. This is Ratcliffe's first known visit to Russia in his capacity as CIA director. It has been reported that he has previously maintained professional connections with Russian counterparts.

In early August, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the United States would be making efforts in the coming weeks to understand whether it is possible to resume peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Kyiv has repeatedly stated its readiness for peace talks and a ceasefire at any time.
