Head of Transportation Department of High Voltage Power Grids LLC Involved in Fatal Accident in Syunik Region
On January 26, a fatal accident occurred in the Syunik region. At approximately 7:15 PM, a resident of Kapan, 59-year-old Sargis S., struck a pedestrian, 61-year-old Artsrun M., with his UAZ 3909 vehicle in the Halidzor neighborhood.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the injured pedestrian lost consciousness and died while being transported to the Kapan Medical Center by an ambulance.
The driver did not flee the scene and voluntarily presented himself to the Kapan police station.
Officers from the 6th platoon of the 2nd police battalion of the traffic police, led by platoon commander Gegham Margaryan and squad commander Armen Sargsyan, arrived at the scene. The duty officer at the Road Police's operational management center, Tigran Barselyan, reported the incident to the Syunik Regional Investigative Department of the Armenian Investigative Committee, from which a team led by senior investigator Hovhannisyan was dispatched.
The operational group of the Kapan police station also arrived, led by the station head Vardanyan.
As reported by G. Shamshyan, driver Sargis S. works as the head of the transportation department at High Voltage Power Grids LLC, while the deceased Artsrun M. was employed at the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine.
Note: The suspected or charged individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedural rules established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, by a legally binding court judgment.
