Five People Injured in Amuiri Gas Chemical Complex Fire
Five people have been hospitalized with various degrees of injuries as a result of a fire that broke out at the Amuiri gas chemical complex. According to the press service of the enterprise, the fire has been localized, and there is no risk of further spread. Currently, remnants of technological gases are burning under controlled conditions.
Preliminary reports indicate that the fire ignited in the auxiliary technological area of the pyrolysis plant. The main equipment of the complex has not been damaged.
Medical assistance has been provided on-site to other individuals who suffered minor injuries, including cuts and abrasions. Following the incident, a process has been initiated to halt the equipment that was in the commissioning and adjustment phase. Employees not involved in the emergency response have been evacuated.
A commission has been established to determine the causes of the fire.
The Amuiri gas chemical complex is a joint project of the Russian company SIBUR (60%) and the Chinese company Sinopec (40%). It is one of the largest enterprises in the world for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene.
