Samvel Gasparyan Becomes Weightlifting European Championship Silver Medalist

At the Weightlifting European Championship held in Batumi, Georgia, 102 kg weight class athlete Samvel Gasparyan won a silver medal.

Armenia had two representatives in this weight category, Arsen Martirosyan and Samvel Gasparyan.

In the snatch event, Gasparyan lifted 168 kg (5th place), while Martirosyan first lifted 160 kg and then succeeded with 168 kg (4th place).

In the clean and jerk event, Martirosyan only managed to lift 200 kg, resulting in an overall score of 368 kg and finishing 6th. Gasparyan successfully lifted 209 kg but could not lift 216 kg and 217 kg. The weightlifter from Gyumri achieved a small silver medal in clean and jerk and became the vice-champion of the European Championship with a total score of 377 kg.
