Hakob Mkrtchyan Becomes Weightlifting European Champion
During the ongoing Weightlifting European Championships in Batumi, Gyumri's Hakob Mkrtchyan was declared the European champion in the men's 89 kg category.
The athlete ranked fourth in the snatch event, while he was out of competition in the clean and jerk.
In his second attempt, Hakob lifted 207 kg, making it unreachable for the others. There was no need for a third attempt.
With a total result of 371 kg, Hakob Mkrtchyan secured first place. Our other athlete, David Hovhannisyan, won a bronze medal with a combined weight of 360 kg.
