Armenia-Russia Discussions on EAEU Food Standards
The Armenian Food Safety Inspectorate continues working consultations with the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia, known as Rosselkhoznadzor, regarding compliance with the EAEU's veterinary and phytosanitary requirements. This statement was released by the Russian trade representation in Armenia.
The parties are coordinating further steps and the procedures for implementing necessary measures. At the same time, the Armenian agency has not yet disclosed the details of the discussions, noting that it is premature to do so before the conclusion of negotiations. Additional information is expected to be provided regarding the agreements reached and the results of the dialogue.
The consultations were initiated following Rosselkhoznadzor's announcement on August 19. The Russian side requested data from Armenian partners on the results of investigations conducted, information on the measures taken, and a clear algorithm of actions to ensure compliance with EAEU requirements.
Previously recorded violations had led to the Russian side imposing restrictions on several Armenian products, including mineral water, alcoholic beverages, vegetables, fruits, fish products, and dairy supplies.
The continuation of working communications between responsible authorities aims to coordinate measures and ensure compliance with the EAEU's unified requirements in the fields of veterinary and phytosanitary control.
