Over 400 Million Drams in Overpayments Discovered in Universities: Funds Being Returned to Students
The State Revenue Committee has identified approximately 400 million drams in overpayments at 18 state universities. This overpayment has arisen from the payments made by around 4,500 students who have completed their studies, been expelled, or have been released from their obligations between 2023 and August 2026.
The surplus funds primarily stem from additional payments made by students, as well as reimbursements for tuition fees from the government and various organizations.
Following the recommendation from the SRC, universities have begun the process of returning these funds to students and organizations that provided reimbursements. As of August, approximately 67 million drams have already been returned to around 600 students and various organizations.
The committee continues its audits in other universities with the aim of identifying similar cases and returning the funds to the rightful beneficiaries.
