Gurgen Arsenyan, Armenia's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Russia, will not continue his term in Moscow. According to exclusive information from the newspaper 'Zhoghovourd', Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has decided to recall him, and government sources assure that the decision is irreversible.

It remains unclear who will replace Arsenyan. The newspaper attempted to obtain an official clarification regarding his recall. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the matter is not within their purview, directing inquiries to the Office of the President. The presidential administration recommended addressing the issue to the Government. The Prime Minister's spokesperson did not provide any official response to the media's inquiries throughout the day.

It is worth noting that Gurgen Arsenyan was appointed as Armenia's ambassador to Russia on August 14, 2024. A few days before this, he had resigned from his parliamentary mandate, with the relevant documents sent to Moscow last autumn.

During this period of heightened tensions in Armenian-Russian relations, he had expressed hopes prior to his official appointment that he would be able to mitigate sharp points and change the algorithm of relations between the two countries. He has not had prior experience in the diplomatic field.
