How Much to Pay for a New Passport and Identification Card: Prices Revealed

Starting this autumn, new biometric documents will be issued in Armenia. Nelli Davtyan, the acting head of the Migration and Citizenship Service at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, announced this.

The new system pertains not only to passports but also to identification cards and a number of other documents.

The new sample passport will cost 28,650 drams for citizens of the Republic of Armenia and will be valid for 10 years. The identification card will cost 2,950 drams and will be valid for 5 years.

According to the new regulations, obtaining an identification card will be mandatory for individuals aged 16 and older. It will also be necessary to have an identification card in order to apply for a passport.

Davtyan stated that citizens can obtain the new documents even before the current documents expire.

Starting in autumn, old sample documents will no longer be printed. This means that if a citizen loses their passport or identification card, they will have to obtain a new sample document.

The passport will be issued through regular procedures within 14 days. There will also be an expedited option available for an additional fee.

In the first phase, 14 private offices are set to open where citizens can obtain the new documents.
