New Chaos Begins in Passport Sections
The newspaper "Fact" reports that there are serious problems once again related to the issuance of identification cards. Recently, in the Territorial Subdivisions of the Passport and Visa Department, the corresponding "devices" were not operational, forcing people to either wait in line at other departments for hours, try their luck in the regions, or suffer at the OVIR.
After a while, it seemed that the issue was resolved, although from time to time, we would receive reports of non-functioning devices in some sections. And now, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has decided to surprise our citizens again.
According to our information, the online queue system for obtaining identification cards has been abolished. The reason, according to sources from the newspaper, is that the demand for identification cards has decreased, making online queueing unnecessary.
We attempted to investigate the situation in Yerevan's passport sections following this "reform". Our visits to 4-5 sections showed that instead of improving, they have made things worse. As always.
It’s worth mentioning that in the sections, we confirmed that online registration for identification cards has indeed been removed; people are simply waiting in line on-site to apply. The chaotic lines that have formed are difficult to describe in words.
Regarding the citizens’ reactions, who are complaining about having to wait in line for hours, they are not documented in the articles. Notably, there is also a peculiar theme at the Passport and Visa Department concerning the lines to receive passports and identification cards from the heads of the sections. In short, the "good old queues" have returned to this sector.
