US Halts Visa Interview Appointments Worldwide
The administration of US President Donald Trump has halted the appointment of visa interviews for applicants worldwide, according to Reuters.
A representative of the US State Department stated that the agency has launched a global training program at US embassies and consulates worldwide, and that appointment times for visa services will be adjusted accordingly.
The State Department did not specify the details and timelines of the training, limiting its announcement to the aim of assisting consular staff in identifying applicants who, in the view of authorities, may become dependent on US public benefits, and ensuring a "comprehensive and consistent" evaluation of visa applicants.
