Peskov Calls Claims of Kremlin Involvement in Prigozhin's Plane Crash 'Absolute Nonsense'
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, has labeled claims that the Kremlin could have been involved in the crash of an aircraft belonging to Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the Wagner private military company, as "absolute nonsense."
“Now, of course, there are many speculations regarding this plane crash and the tragic death of its passengers, including Yevgeny Prigozhin. Certainly, in the West, all these speculations are presented from a certain perspective. All of this is absolute nonsense. When covering this issue, it is certainly necessary to rely solely on facts,” said Peskov, commenting on the relevant claims.
On August 23, an Embraer aircraft crashed in the Tver region while en route from Sheremetyevo to Saint Petersburg. All 10 people on board were killed, including Yevgeny Prigozhin. The plane caught fire upon impact and had been in the air for less than half an hour.
