The Third CIS Games to Be Held in Ganja, Azerbaijan
The second largest city in Azerbaijan, Ganja (formerly known as Gandzak), will host the third CIS Games. This was announced to reporters by Mariana Vasilieva, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, according to TASS.
The third CIS Games are scheduled for 2025.
“The third CIS Games will take place in the city of Ganja, which is the second largest city in Azerbaijan after Baku, where a new modern complex is being built. We liked the idea of holding competitions in the regions. The format will be discussed in the council. Each country focuses on more developed sports; I believe we will concentrate on the main Olympic sports as well as all the traditional non-Olympic sports of the participating countries,” said Vasilieva.
It is noteworthy that the second CIS Games are currently being held in Belarus. The competition will run until August 14.
