Poisoning Incident in Artashat: 14 People Seek Medical Attention After Baptism Ceremony
On August 1 and the night of August 2, 2026, 14 citizens exhibited symptoms characteristic of food poisoning and were admitted to the Artashat medical center. This was reported by the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
“Epidemiological research conducted by specialists from the Ararat Regional Center of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention has determined that all patients attended a baptism ceremony at the Armenia restaurant in Artashat. All 14 patients experienced nausea and vomiting, with symptoms manifesting in some even while still at the restaurant. They sought help at the Artashat medical center. Immediate medical assistance was provided to ten patients in the emergency department, and they were discharged after their health improved. Four children were hospitalized in the center's infectious disease unit, received appropriate medical care, and their condition was assessed as satisfactory. Due to the overall improvement in the children's condition, they were also discharged around 11:30 AM.
Specimens have been taken from patients by specialists of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as samples of food, the environment, and from the restaurant's staff and kitchen for laboratory testing. Laboratory tests are ongoing,” the statement said.
