UK Foreign Office Employees Begin Strike Against Job Cuts
Employees of the UK Foreign Office have staged a strike in London, demanding guarantees that the agency's restructuring will not result in job losses.
Diplomats organized a picket near the ministry's building, holding placards with slogans such as "No Mandatory Cuts" and "Protect Jobs and Public Service." The employees are calling for the planned restructuring, set to take place by 2030, to be conducted transparently, fairly, and respectfully.
The strike was organized by the PCS union. Dozens of employees participated, pausing work for two hours. A similar strike was held at the Foreign Office's Scottish office in East Kilbride.
