Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan visited Military Unit No. N of the Ministry of Defense on August 26, where she became acquainted with the service and social-living conditions of the soldiers. This was reported by the Office of the Human Rights Defender.

During the visit, Manasyan met with the command staff of the military unit to discuss issues related to the rights of soldiers, and also held individual conversations with soldiers and the unit's psychologist.

The Human Rights Defender also examined the organization of medical services, food supply, discipline, and the moral-psychological state of the soldiers. Manasyan specifically drew attention to issues concerning the right to life of soldiers, the prevention of deaths, suicides, self-harm, mistreatment, and non-statutory relations.

According to her, recent incidents indicate that despite efforts made over the years, urgent and systemic issues still exist within the Armed Forces that require resolution. The Human Rights Defender emphasized that systemic reforms are necessary to prevent cases of violent deaths, suicides, self-harm, and mistreatment, and that the exclusion of non-statutory relations remains a pressing need on the agenda.

Manasyan also highlighted the importance of strengthening military discipline, improving the moral-psychological state of soldiers, and implementing effective mechanisms for the early identification of problems and appropriate responses.
