European Wine is Superior to Armenian: Volodin
Vyacheslav Volodin, the Chairman of the State Duma of Russia, has stated that, in his opinion, French and Italian wines surpass Armenian wines in quality. He noted that Armenia benefits from privileges in exporting its wines to the Russian market thanks to its membership in the EAEU.
“Both France wants to sell, and Italy does too, despite the sanctions. In terms of quality, I believe that wine is better than Armenian wine,” Volodin said.
He pointed out that a similar situation exists in the fruit market. Georgia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan are also ready to supply their products to Russia. However, Armenia, as a member of the EAEU, has privileged access to the Russian market.
Volodin's comments on EAEU privileges for Armenia were made in the context of Armenia’s rapprochement with the EU.
