No Calls from Russia Regarding Kocharian, I Hope There Will Be None: Alen Simonyan
As of now, there have been no calls from Russia regarding Armenia's second president Robert Kocharian. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, during a broadcast on the 'Dozhd' television channel.
“As of now, no one from Russia has called regarding Robert Kocharian, and I hope that no one will, as it makes no sense,” Simonyan said.
According to him, the rhetoric of Kocharian and his political force mainly aligns with statements coming from Moscow.
Simonyan also described the searches and arrests carried out against Kocharian and his family members as “ridiculous,” as well as the attempts to link these actions to the debate that took place between Levon Kocharian and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the National Assembly.
“That is impossible,” he said, also disagreeing with characterizing the ongoing actions as political persecution.
Simonyan noted that the criminal proceedings involving Robert Kocharian and his family members have long been initiated.
It is worth recalling that on August 24, there was a debate in the National Assembly between Nikol Pashinyan and Levon Kocharian, during which Pashinyan stated from the podium that Kocharian would not be able to pass his property down to his children and grandchildren by inheritance.
