Levon Kocharian's Apartment Search Deemed 'Illegal' by Lawyer Who Filed Complaint
The decision to conduct a search of the apartment of Levon Kocharian, a member of the National Assembly representing the Armenia faction, has been appealed to the Court of Appeal of the Republic of Armenia. This was announced by lawyer Erik Aleksanyan.
The lawyer asserts that the search conducted at Levon Kocharian's apartment effectively indicates the initiation of criminal proceedings against the parliament member.
“Before the search in Levon Kocharian’s apartment, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia should have presented a petition to the Assembly regarding overcoming Kocharian’s parliamentary immunity, which, however, was not done. Therefore, the entire process that took place yesterday was illegal,” stated Aleksanyan.
The lawyer also argued that the court’s decision permitting the search was based solely on operational data that, according to him, has not been verified or properly assessed. Aleksanyan believes that this circumstance further renders the court decision allowing the search illegal.
