Court Hearings in the Case of Serzh Sargsyan to Proceed Without His Attendance
The third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, will not participate in the upcoming court hearings concerning his case. This decision was made by judge Aram Grigoryan of the Anti-Corruption Court, granting the request of Sargsyan's lawyer, Amram Makiynian.
The court also accepted similar requests from the defense attorneys of other defendants, Valery Grigoryan and Aleksan Aleksanyan. As a result, future court hearings in this case can proceed without the defendants' presence. However, if at any stage of the trial the court deems their presence necessary, they must appear.
The next court session is scheduled for September 9 at 14:30.
It is noteworthy that four cases involving Serzh Sargsyan are being examined within the framework of two legal proceedings. The so-called “Diesel case” has been consolidated with another case that also touches upon the names of Sedrak Kocharyan and Mikhail Bagdasarov. Meanwhile, the cases concerning bribery from businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan and land disposals on Isakov Avenue have been combined in another legal proceeding.
