A Gaz-53 Vehicle Strikes Soldiers in Jambarak; One Dead
On August 19, around 21:00, a Gaz-53 vehicle struck several soldiers on the road leading to Jambarak under unclear circumstances, according to the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
As a result of the incident, soldier Suren Mambrayev Vardanyan lost his life. The driver of the vehicle, who shouted and cried after the incident, did not flee the scene. It has been reported that the driver is the father of three minors.
Other servicemen were taken to a military hospital, and the Ministry of Defense has stated that their lives are not in danger and they are under the care of medical personnel. The families of the soldiers have been informed about the incident.
An investigation is ongoing to clarify all circumstances surrounding the event. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the pedestrian accident that occurred on the Jambarak-Vahan road, and the driver of the vehicle has been arrested, the Investigative Committee reports.
