15.3% Decline in Armenia's Agricultural Sector According to Papoyan
In the second quarter of 2026, a 15.3% decline was recorded in Armenia's agricultural sector, as reported by the Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan.
At the same time, according to the minister, Armenia's GDP has increased by 6.7% compared to the same period last year. Among the key sectors of the economy, industry grew by 6.4%, construction by 20%, and the trade and services sector by 7.7%.
It is noteworthy that the agricultural decline was also recorded throughout the first half of the year, with a decrease of 11.9%, according to the Statistical Committee.
This year, problems have arisen for the export of Armenian agricultural products to the Russian market. Since May, Russia has imposed restrictions on the import of several products from Armenia, including certain types of flowers, fruits, and vegetables, citing violations and phytosanitary safety requirements. On August 13, Gevorg Papoyan and Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut discussed issues related to the supply of Armenian products to Russia.
