36-Year-Old Man Drowns in Lake Sevan, Confirmed by Ministry of Internal Affairs
On August 20, a tragic incident occurred in the Gegharkunik Province. A 36-year-old man's body was retrieved from Lake Sevan near one of the beaches close to the village of Lchashen, as reported by shamshyan.com.
Around 12:00 PM, the Ministry of Internal Affairs' 112 operational management center received a call about a drowning incident at the beach next to Lchashen. Emergency responders, police officers, and patrol units were dispatched to the scene. A diver retrieved the body of a resident of Syunik Province, 36-year-old Edik M., from approximately 10 meters offshore and around 1.8 meters deep.
In a conversation with AURORANEWS, officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the incident, stating it took place at a private beach. A criminal investigation has been initiated regarding the case. Witnesses at the scene reported that, according to their information, the man had rescued three individuals previously in danger of drowning before succumbing to the water himself. This information has not yet been officially confirmed.
