New Crisis Surrounding FIFA Leadership: Infantino Urged to Resign

UEFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the North and Central America and Caribbean Football Confederation (CONCACAF) have developed a plan of action calling for FIFA President Gianni Infantino to resign and not to run for re-election in 2027. This was reported by The Times.

According to the publication, the leaders of the three confederations are prepared to 'paralyze' FIFA’s operations by boycotting meetings of the organization’s board and committees, and not ratifying FIFA’s decisions.

Additionally, the possibility of creating alternative international tournaments is being discussed. It is noted that UEFA had developed a concept for a global Nations League back in 2017, but this idea was never realized.

Earlier, it was reported that the football federations of Serbia, Wales, and Sweden have rescinded their support for Infantino’s candidacy for the 2027 elections. According to Reuters, the Football Association of England is also preparing to take the same step.
