New Standards for Atmospheric Air Quality Assessment to Be Implemented
According to a decision by the Government of Armenia, new methodologies and standards for atmospheric air quality assessment will come into effect on November 1, 2027. The Cabinet has made changes to several decisions resulting from the comprehensive action program for the years 2025-2030.
This program includes plans to modernize the air quality monitoring system by acquiring 14 stationary monitoring stations, six of which will be installed in Yerevan. In order to align with international standards, the Ministry of Environment has already been allocated 300 million drams in 2025 for the purchase of two monitoring stations.
These devices have already been installed in the Central Administrative District of the capital at 6/1 Yervand Kochar and in the Davit Anhaght park of Kanaker-Zeytun. Currently, calibration and testing procedures for the equipment are underway. The operation of these monitoring stations will allow for real-time data collection and accurate measurement of the levels of key atmospheric pollutants.
