Pashinyan Appeals to Pensioners
Recent visits to the regions have revealed that many pensioners say they used to spend 30,000-40,000 drams on medications, but now, thanks to health insurance, that money stays in their pockets. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“From April 1, pensions have increased by 10,000 drams, and there is also a possibility of a retroactive payment of 5,000, 7,000, or sometimes 10,000 drams. This means that with an increase of 20,000 drams, it is clearly possible to purchase tickets worth 3-10 euros to Larnaca, and the money previously spent on medications can now be used for daily expenses and other costs. I want to seriously appeal to our pensioners not to listen to those who are reluctant, but to set aside that money for medications and start traveling, because I believe that, like pensioners in many countries around the world, our pensioners can also start traveling, albeit in modest volumes.
When we pass the law on reverse mortgages, our pensioners will be able to travel more comfortably and confidently. And I urge our pensioners to disregard the voices of those unwilling to change, whose preconceived notion is that pensioners should sit at home, with the maximum activity being engaging in conversations in the yard,” noted the Prime Minister.
It is worth noting that earlier we reported on the Prime Minister's statement that one of the key points is the indexation of pensions, aimed at ensuring that the average actual pension does not fall below the minimum consumer basket.
