Albanian Foreign Minister Makes Statement on Armenia and Azerbaijan

Albanian Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj spoke about Armenian-Azerbaijani relations during the Antalya diplomatic forum: "First of all, we are glad that peace has prevailed. Any credible progress in strengthening the long-term peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia is a positive development, as it enhances stability and contributes to development in a region that holds strategic significance for energy, connectivity, and broader European security. Stable peace will foster greater predictability in the region, improve cooperation conditions, and strengthen transport-logistical corridors between Europe and the wider Eurasian space.

Therefore, it is extremely important that this progress is solidified through the full and consistent implementation of the agreements reached. Long-term peace requires not only political will at the highest level but also sustained efforts aimed at building trust, ensuring transparency, and creating effective mechanisms for conflict resolution and regional cooperation. Without these elements, the achievements made are at risk of remaining fragile and reversible.

From Albania's perspective, stability in the South Caucasus is significant, extending beyond the boundaries of the region itself. It is closely linked to Europe’s efforts towards energy diversification, the stability of key transport and trade routes, as well as the broader architecture of security on the continent. In this context, peace in the South Caucasus should be viewed not merely as a regional goal but as a strategic investment in the overall stability, resilience, and long-term prosperity of Europe," said Albanian Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj.
