Israeli President Shares His Dream
During a reception organized for diplomats on the occasion of Israel's Independence Day, the country's leader expressed his dream of being able to travel freely to Beirut and connect with the Lebanese people.
According to a statement from the President's office, Herzog addressed foreign diplomats, stating, "Israel eagerly awaits collaboration with all of you to help create a Middle East where all our sons and daughters inherit opportunities, not fear. So that they inherit the promises of tomorrow, not the conflicts of yesterday."
He added that he recently shared his dream with Israeli students about visiting the beautiful city and befriending the good people of Lebanon, who pray alongside Israelis for a better future. "Recently, I told Israeli schoolchildren that I dream of getting into a car and going directly to Beirut to visit that beautiful city and make friends with the good people of Lebanon, those who pray together with us for a better future," he said.
In this context, Isaac Herzog wished success to the negotiating teams of both countries that are set to begin a new phase of dialogue in Washington on April 23. He emphasized that for peace to be achieved, Israel must ensure the security of its borders. "I wish them great success in achieving peace between Israel and Lebanon. However, for that, Israel must ensure its border security," the President concluded.
