Mass Searches in Gyulagarak; Supporters of 'Strong Armenia' Detained
Mass searches are currently being conducted in the villages of Gyulagarak and Kurth in the Lori region, according to reports from Azatutyun.
The former village head of Gyulagarak and a former member of the Republican Party, Mher Gevorgyan, has been detained. His son is on the electoral list of the 'Strong Armenia' party led by Samvel Karapetyan, and Gevorgyan is among the supporters of this political force.
There are also reports of searches taking place at the residence of Vruyr Ayvazyan, the head of the 'Living Land' faction in the Gyulagarak council. It is currently impossible to establish contact with him. It is not known whether he has been detained or if there are any arrests.
Later, the Investigative Committee informed Azatutyun that investigative actions are being carried out during the pretrial investigation of a criminal case initiated regarding the coercion to hold or participate in a gathering in the regional investigative department of Lori.
According to sources, two more individuals, members of the 'Living Land' party, currently supporters of 'Strong Armenia', Vahé Davtyan and Arsen Mikoyan, have also been detained. The Investigative Committee has not yet disclosed their status, but it is known that they have been transferred to the police departments of Spitak and Stepanavan.
