American Soldiers Injured in Iran Fighter Crash Incident
Last weekend’s incident in Iran, during which a U.S. Air Force F-15E fighter jet was shot down, has resulted in injuries to three American servicemen. This was reported to the Associated Press by a U.S. official on condition of anonymity.
According to the source, the injured included the weapon systems officer of the downed aircraft, along with two crew members from a helicopter. The latter were affected while participating in the initial rescue operation for the pilot and came under fire.
During a press briefing at the White House, General Dan Kayne, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated that the HH-60 Jolly Green II helicopters came under gunfire after the pilot had been rescued. He noted that the second helicopter was hit multiple times during the ongoing operation.
In the same briefing, President Donald Trump indicated that the weapon systems officer of the downed fighter had suffered severe bleeding but was still able to navigate mountainous terrain and relay his location information.
