Erdogan Issues Warning Statement
Amidst attacks on Iran and retaliatory strikes, Turkey remains vigilant and will respond strongly to any violations of its airspace. This was stated by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a message to the nation on the occasion of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr.
“The attacks initiated by Israel on our neighbor Iran on February 28 and Iran's missile and drone strikes against third countries have heightened tensions in our region. Aware of our responsibility towards our 86 million citizens, we continue to remain vigilant and cautious. We adopt a very firm stance against actions that violate our airspace and continue to take steps to strengthen our country's peace and security,” said Erdogan.
Furthermore, in connection with the situation around the Strait of Hormuz, the Turkish leader emphasized that his country “is doing everything possible to prevent the excessive rise in oil and natural gas prices from hindering the fight against inflation.”
