Mkhitaryan on Returning to Armenia

Former captain of the Armenian national team Henrikh Mkhitaryan has ruled out a return to the Armenian league:

“I don’t want to end my career and then regret that I did it too soon. I don’t want to lower my level. I won’t return to Armenia. I’m also not interested in destinations like Saudi Arabia. With all due respect, I love football for the game itself, not for the money. Every morning I wake up eager to train and show what I’m capable of,” Mkhitaryan said, as reported by La Repubblica.

As for what Mkhitaryan plans to do after leaving football, he responded, “Today, I say that I would like to step away from the football world, but never say never. It will take time to think, to rest, and to be with my family.”
