A Man Armed with Grenades Enters 'Ardshinbank' in Abovyan and Threatens to Blow It Up
Today, on May 24, an emergency situation has arisen in the Kotayk region. This was reported by shamshyan.com.
A man armed with one or more grenades entered the 'Ardshinbank' located at 1/2 August 23 Street in Abovyan and is threatening to blow up the bank.
Currently, officers from the Main Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia have arrived at the scene. The presence of police is due to the man's armed status; the entire area has been cordoned off and additional security measures have been implemented.
Police have been negotiating with the man inside the bank to convince him to abandon his intentions.
In conversations with the media, several citizens, who declined to speak on camera, indicated that the man's frustrations stemmed from feeling overwhelmed by the bank, losing his house, and being left with no options, leading him to resort to such drastic measures.
The police are working to ascertain the identity of the man armed with the grenades. According to the police, the man has been taken to the police station, and an official statement will be made shortly.
