The Night Was Hot: A Resident Relays What the Camera Recorded at a Yerevan Building Entrance
Television and radio host Raphael Mnatsakanyan has shared on his Facebook page what he observed in the entrance of his building, recorded by a surveillance camera.
“It was a hot night... Around midnight, a group of unidentified men (three appear on the security camera) entered the entrance of our building, damaged the cables and the door to the electric meters, and scraped the covering of the cables against the renovated walls. They were probably looking for hidden drugs. After taking what they could, they fled in haste. Since I moved to Armenia, unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened, but it is the first time that the incident has been recorded on video. I will not share the video to ensure further action, as I have contacted the legal authorities. This is a security issue; several times, residents of the building have felt uneasy due to the suspicious behavior of unfamiliar men in the entrance... Not to mention the children... Every morning, I see from my window the playground where unfamiliar people are rummaging through the grass early in the morning.
Dear Police, please take action. Yerevan Municipality, I also ask you to change the entrance of our building and install a manageable door for the residents. This cannot continue... It is truly dangerous. For the sake of our residents and my family's safety, I am even willing to contribute financially, just so the entrance door can be changed a day sooner... Thank you.”
