Details from Tavush Region on the Case of a 33-Year-Old Man Killed by a Bear
In an interview with ArmTimes, the head of the rural community of Lusadzor in the Tavush region, Vardan Sardarayn, provided details about the tragic case of a man who was mauled by a bear. According to the community leader, the incident occurred in the woods away from the village, an area where locals usually gather for gathering wild green herbs.
“This year, the bear had just made a new den, and the man, unaware, approached too closely to the den. The mother bear, instinctively protecting her cubs, attacked him,” he noted, adding that the deceased is survived by two children, one in first grade and the other in third grade.
It should be recalled that the 33-year-old man from Lusadzor was a victim of a bear attack while he was out gathering herbs. This was reported on Facebook by journalist Voskana Sargsyan.
“Two days ago, on April 6, in the rural community of Lusadzor in Ijevan, the village resident born in 1990 was buried. Having previously served in the military, after his discharge, the Lusadzor resident had engaged in construction and agriculture. On April 4, he went to the forest of Acharqut village to gather herbs with fellow villagers. The group dispersed in the forest, and the Lusadzor man did not report back to the agreed location in the evening. In the search carried out by fellow villagers, his mutilated body was found. Forest rangers have stated that there is indeed a bear in that area of the forest with her cubs. The Lusadzor resident who fell victim to the bear was the father of two minors,” she mentioned.
