‘Apagayi’ Food Products Not Released for Sale: State Food Safety Inspection Body
The Inspection Body, swiftly responding to a Facebook post by a citizen regarding the sale of ‘Apagayi’ food products—specifically the yogurt ‘Chanakh’—scheduled for expiration between September 17 and September 25, 2023, conducted regulatory actions at the ‘Yerevan City’ supermarket chain branch located at Komitas 60/2, as reported by the State Food Safety Inspection Body (SFIB).
It was revealed that the citizen had taken the yogurt from a cart that was meant for placement on the shelves, immediately noticing the violation and informing the store staff.
The supermarket management admitted its oversight in accepting improperly labeled food products, stating that the batch was not put up for sale and was returned to the producer. The Inspection Body will also conduct oversight at the producer's location following the principle of traceability.
