Something is Wrong Somewhere: Armenia-Greece
In the 9th round of Group J of the European Championship qualifying phase, the Armenian national team hosted Greece at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium.
According to Armenpress, the Greeks were more aggressive in the opening minutes as the Armenian team was still trying to "read" the game. The Greeks clearly dominated, and this was converted into a goal in the 34th minute when Dimitris Limnios quickly oriented himself in the game situation and scored with a long-range, accurate shot. The teams went into halftime with Greece holding a slim lead.
In the second half, the Armenian team was more active and even managed to score against the opponent, but the referee ruled it offside. As the match approached its final minutes, the Greeks started to maintain even more control over the ball and the initiative. Ultimately, in their last home game of the qualifying round, the Armenian team lost 0:1 to Greece.
The Armenian national team will play its final match of the Euro 2020 qualifying round on November 18 in Palermo against Italy.
