Baku Demands Immediate Actions from Russia; Ambassador Summoned to MFA
The Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mikhail Evdokimov, has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to APA, during the meeting at the Azerbaijani MFA, the Russian side was presented with the serious concern and firm protest of the Azerbaijani side regarding the recent provocative, insulting, and threatening statements made in the Russian media and information space against the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani people, and the leadership of the country.
A particular emphasis was placed on the expressions aimed at Azerbaijan, its people, and its leadership during a broadcast on August 13, 2026, within the framework of the “Chistota ponimaniya” project. Additionally, the absurd statements made on August 7 during a segment on “Sputnik” radio, which included claims of the Azerbaijani leadership being included in a list of “Russian terrorists and extremists,” were also noted. Other issues included the dissemination of insulting materials and provocative expressions against the Azerbaijani leadership on YouTube on August 9 and on “Spas” television on August 16.
It was emphasized that discussions regarding possible interventions in Azerbaijan's internal political processes and calls for physical retribution against the Azerbaijani people and leadership are unacceptable. The continuation of such rhetoric, especially in a more severe form, raises serious concern despite numerous calls from the Azerbaijani side to prevent similar actions and the discussion of this issue at various political levels.
During the conversation, the Russian side was again made aware of Azerbaijan's expectations for immediate and effective actions to cease the provocative, threatening, and violent rhetoric against Azerbaijan in the Russian information and media sphere.
