Cases of Drug Trafficking Among Minors Reported

In the first half of 2026, 2 cases of illegal drug trafficking among minors have been registered, compared to 3 cases during the same period last year. This was announced at a press conference by Deputy Chief of the Armenian National Police, Gevorg Khachatryan.

“There is a decrease, which is positive, but we still have concerns. Regardless of the drop in cases, incidents have still been recorded. This means we still have work to do,” Khachatryan stated.

Addressing the issue of drug trafficking in and around schools, he mentioned that starting from September 1, informational pamphlets will be distributed in schools. The pamphlets will also be provided to parents and legal guardians of the children. They will contain information that can help identify if a child is using drugs or is involved in trafficking, as well as what steps should be taken in such cases.

It is noteworthy that in the first 5 months of 2026, 1313 cases of drug-related crimes have been recorded in Armenia, with 1269 of them relating to illegal trafficking.
