US President Donald Trump has instructed representatives of the American administration to halt ongoing negotiations with Iran. This was reported by CNN, citing a US official.

According to the source, the United States has informed its political allies of a change in its strategic approach: the previous plan to "crush Iran as soon as possible" has been replaced by a strategy of "squeezing it over time." CNN notes that while Trump previously stated that discussions were progressing successfully and a new agreement would be signed soon, he is now acknowledging the absence of any diplomatic moves in that direction.

Sources from the television network mention that Trump has directed his negotiation team, which includes his son-in-law Jared Kushner, Vice President Jay D. Vences, and special envoy Steve Witkoff, to refrain from cooperating with Tehran. Although the White House leader issued this directive following "positive negotiations" with Iran, CNN's sources clarified that Trump was dissatisfied with Tehran's reluctance to meet his demands.

It has been noted that before restarting discussions, the American leader intends to wait until the leadership of the Islamic Republic demonstrates its readiness to finalize the desired agreement. Previously, Trump had also stated on Truth Social that the US is not conducting and does not plan to conduct negotiations with Iran.
