US President Donald Trump has suspended diplomatic communications with Iran until further notice. This was reported by the White House, as noted by Iran International.

Trump stated on Truth Social that there are currently no negotiations taking place with Iran, and no new meetings are scheduled. According to him, the US naval blockade against Iran continues to be fully implemented.

A White House official later informed Semafor that Trump's announcement meant the suspension of negotiations with Tehran for the 'foreseeable future.'

This decision was made as the 60-day deadline for reaching a final agreement under the Islamabad memorandum expired. However, the Iranian side insists that the countdown for this deadline has not officially begun, arguing that Washington has not fulfilled the obligations necessary to start the negotiations.

Representatives of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs claim that the US initially fulfilled only some obligations related to restrictions on Iranian oil sales and the naval blockade, but later abandoned them and did not implement other agreements.

The Speaker of Iran's Parliament and chief negotiator, Mohamad Bagher Ghalibaf, has declared that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed as long as the US does not meet Tehran's demands. These demands include the lifting of sanctions, the release of Iran's frozen assets, the cancellation of oil sanctions, and the cessation of military operations and threats.

At the same time, Iranian media suggest that the diplomatic path may not be entirely closed. Reports indicate unofficial communications with Iran, as well as mediation efforts by Oman, Pakistan, and Qatar.

Tehran views control over the Strait of Hormuz at this stage as a significant means of exerting pressure on Washington. According to Iranian estimates, disruptions to maritime navigation in the Strait could have economic repercussions on global markets and the US, thereby strengthening Tehran's negotiating position.
