Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has emphasized the importance of maximizing diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions between Iran and the United States. In a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, Erdogan highlighted the significance of utilizing diplomatic opportunities to ease the strain between Iran and the U.S., expressing hope for continued negotiations while reinforcing Turkey's ongoing support for efforts aimed at achieving peace.

This information was conveyed by the communications department of the Turkish leader following the conversation. Erdogan noted that the signing of the Joint Defense Agreement in Mecca on August 7 by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan 'demonstrated the strong position of the three countries regarding the provision of regional stability and security.'

The Turkish President also drew his American counterpart's attention to the escalation of Israeli actions against Palestinians during a time when the transition to the second phase of the peace plan concerning the Gaza Strip was expected. 'Erdogan underscored that Turkey will continue to support efforts for achieving lasting peace in the region and the initiatives aimed at the reconstruction of Gaza,' the text stated.
