Kallas Prepares the Most Extensive Sanctions Against Russia
This autumn, I will present the most extensive list of sanctions against Russia since the beginning of the war. This was stated by the head of the EU’s diplomatic service, Kaia Kallas, in an interview with Die Welt, as reported by TASS.
“This autumn, I will present the most extensive list of sanctions since the beginning of the war. If adopted, the number of individuals, enterprises, and organizations under sanctions will increase by one-third,” Kallas said.
She also expressed hope that the EU’s and the USA’s positions regarding sanctions policy against Russia will converge, referring to the recent alignment of a corresponding bill in the U.S. Senate, following the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham.
The EU adopted its latest, 21st package of sanctions against Russia in July. After the new sanctions package comes into effect, the EU’s blacklist for Russia has grown to include 3,100 physical and legal entities, which is a record high in the EU’s sanctions practice.
