The Chief Operating Officer of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Kevin Lamour, has been dismissed from his position just three weeks after publicly criticizing the organization’s president, Gianni Infantino’s plans. This was reported by BBC Sport.

FIFA confirmed that Lamour's employment was terminated on August 17. “FIFA thanks Kevin for his two years of service and wishes him success in the future,” stated the organization in a release.

The staff at FIFA were informed of Lamour's departure by Secretary General Matthias Grafström, who mentioned in an email sent on Monday evening that the parties “agreed to part ways.”

In July, Lamour had sharply criticized the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) program, which aimed to offer stakes in FIFA tournaments to private investors. He referred to it as a “one-man project,” alluding to Infantino's role. Lamour stated that it was time for “football’s political leaders to ask themselves the right questions and make the right decisions.” He also claimed that FIFA's leadership had been misled regarding the project. Subsequently, the organization abandoned the initiative.

“Our mission is to serve football, the mission of the hundreds of enthusiastic, dedicated, and conscientious FIFA employees. The president should unite people, bring them closer, and inspire them. Today, we see the exact opposite,” Lamour declared.
