UFC Officially Announces Most Anticipated Fight of the Year
The president of UFC, Dana White, has officially announced the return of former lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor. The Irish fighter will headline UFC 329, scheduled to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. His opponent will be former featherweight champion Max Holloway. This matchup will occur in the welterweight division (up to 77 kg).
Notably, this will be Holloway's first time competing in this weight class, as he has previously fought in lighter divisions. The fighters have met before, with McGregor winning their initial bout in 2013 by unanimous decision.
The Irish fighter last stepped into the octagon in the summer of 2021, where he suffered a severe leg injury and lost to Dustin Poirier by technical knockout. Since then, McGregor has regularly expressed his desire to resume fighting. Meanwhile, his upcoming opponent Max Holloway last fought in March of this year, losing by decision to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326.
