Personal Data of American Servicemen Compromised by Hackers
The Iranian Handala hacker group has announced the acquisition and disclosure of personal data belonging to tens of thousands of American Marines stationed in the Persian Gulf.
In their statement, they claim to have sent messages via WhatsApp to U.S. Marines, warning, "Those who believed their identities were hidden, think again." The group asserts that they now have complete control over information regarding servicemen's identities, including those serving at operational bases, participating in recreational activities, or conducting off-base patrol duties.
The hackers advised the Marines to "immediately contact their families and say goodbye."
