Pashinyan on Changes in the Metro System
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has emphasized that the further expansion of the capital's metro system is an essential necessity without alternatives. Presenting the pre-election program of the "Civil Contract" party, Pashinyan addressed the transportation situation in Yerevan and the importance of metro development.
According to the government leader, the expansion of the metro is inevitable under the current traffic conditions, and this process will be implemented. The goal is to make the metro circular.
As part of the program, it is planned to construct the "Ajapnyak" station, which will be followed by the construction of a station in the Academic City. This, in turn, will be connected to the "Charbakh" station, allowing for a circular route of the metro.
Pashinyan also added that, according to experts, it will be possible in the future to have two reverse-direction circular traffic flows, which will increase the system's efficiency and passenger transportation volume.
